Salt Spring Island artist Ron Crawford creates art with a unique combination of plaster and acrylic paint, resulting in a modern variation on the frescoes. The surfaces are carved, shaped, sanded and painted until they take on a rich, naturally eroded appearance.
"One of the things important to me as an artist is that how something was made is as mysterious as the what it represents. I love that a work suggest to the viewer places, surfaces or even emotions that I have not intentionally set out to do. I invite the viewer to participate in order to understand.
