"As a child my excuse for eternal weariness was late night reading, a
habit both excessive and self-preserving.  I don’t believe I ever considered it “disobedient”, as I became convinced school learning was at best rather dull and time consuming.

I believe reading Homer’s Odyssey set me on a path of inquiry I have never regretted. The whole construct of wisdom, history and art seemed to lie within the pages of mythological tomes, pages replete with curious and memorable tales. This painting is intended to describe the blurred lines between intrigue and obsession that accompanies unapologetic night-owls."
