After moving to Salt Spring Island in 1992 Matt opened the doors at Steffich Fine Art under the name 'Thunderbird Gallery'. In 2007 the business was re-named to Steffich Fine Art.
The gallery began under the guidance of the regional arts community and the support of family and friends who shared Matt’s enthusiasm for fine art.
Matt’s natural passion for leadership and teamwork is the guiding force behind the gallery. The result of his leadership skills, dedication and positive attitude has helped Steffich Fine Art succeed in business as a premiere Canadian art gallery. He was a master of business (and humor) and nurtured professional connections with esteemed galleries, businesses and artists across Canada and around the world while continuing to maintain a deep commitment to the local Salt Spring community.
