Born on Vancouver Island, Gail Stefanek has been carving gemstones for over twenty years. Originally inspired by the work of friend and mentor Thomas McPhee, she began creating wearable sculptural pieces with the goal of enhancing the natural beauty of the gemstone.
The natural shape of the crystal very often determines the design of the carving.
Gail is also intrigued by the unique properties of Precious Metal Clay, in particular it’s ability to seamlessly form fluid shapes.
