The society is made of up of six volunteers handpicked by Morrisseau. In order to ensure an environment of impartiality, no commercial art dealers are include in the group.

The group members are:

* Viviane Gray - Indian and Inuit Art Centre, Dept. of Indian Affairs & Northern Development;
* Elizabeth McLuhan - Dept. of History, University of Winnipeg;
* Dr. Ruth Philips - Professor of Art History;
* Greg Hill - Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art, National Gallery of Canada;
* Richard H. Baker - Barrister and Solicitor.

NMHS MISSION STATEMENT: "The Norval Morrisseau Heritage Society was established at the request of Norval Morrisseau to research, document and preserve his artistic achievement and protect the integrity of his art. It seeks to achieve this mission by establishing and maintaining a registry of his works, publishing and updating a catalogue raisonne of his artistic output and providing the necessary expertise to authenticate his art."

The NMHS is also in possession of a variety of paintings that Morrisseau himself confirmed as fakes. These will prove to be important reference points. The first edition of the catalogue raisonne is to be published in the near future.

The Norval Morrisseau Heritage Society (NMHS) will be the definitive source, as per Morrisseau’s request, for authentic Morrisseau’s when they publish the catalogue raisonne in the future. The NHMS is actively accepting submissions of paintings. Although they are not currently authenticating, that is in fact their ultimate mandate.

All submissions should be mailed to:
